Knox County Fifth District, Commissioner Needed!

State Senator Richard Briggs recently resigned the Fifth District County Commission seat that he has occupied for the last few years. The Knox County Commission are accepting resumes until 5 p.m. on December 15, 2014. Resumes can be sent via snail mail, fax or email. The information is below.

The Commission will review the resumes and then interview the applicants at 4 p.m. on January 12, 2015 in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building. The Commission shall appoint someone at 4:30 p.m. or after the interview session on January 12, 2015 in the Main Assembly Room of the City County Building.

Names that have been reported, rumored or speculated have been included in this previous BrianHornback.Com story. They are Board of Zoning Appeals Member and Former failed 2004 and 2008 Commission candidate John Schoonmaker, Seventh State Senate District Republican State Executive Committeeman Ken Gross, Council of West Knox County Homeowner Association President Margot Kline, Former Black Wednesday Commissioner Craig Leuthold (whose father was Briggs campaign treasurer), Dr. Aaron G. Margulies, MD. Other names that have also been mentioned are Former Second District Congressional Candidate Jason Zachary, GOP Activist and recent Colorado Republican Party Staffer (during October and November for the November 2014 General election) and GOP activist Ray Meade.

    I could live with the 2 young men that you mentioned they are both respectable family men and not part of the “Knox County Good Ole Boy Network” my only knock on Zachary is that he ran against Congressman Duncan he should have started at this level!! I have met Meade several times he seems to be a great father and if you are around him at any length of time you can tell he really cares about the people around him!
    With all of that said I doubt the commission would appoint either of them they don’t seem like the “Hunley type”
