Knox County Democrats Struggle for Significance and Relevance

Today at the Town of Farragut’s Fourth of July parade, it was obvious the Knox County Democrat Party is struggling for significance.

First, on June 27, 2015 Georgiana Vines over at the Big Metal Shed on the Hill reports that the Democrats are going to re-run Gloria Johnson for the 13th House seat challenging State Rep. Eddie Smith. Really? Johnson squeaked out a win in 2012 because there was a third party Independent by the same name as a downtown developer and in 2014 the district sent her packing in electing Smith overwhelmingly.

Second, in this summers (August 12, 2015) Special 14th House District election, if they had a chance to win, it would be in a low turnout Special election and the Democrat’s only fielded a school board member that aligns with them ideologically and with her voting record (2004, when the school boarder was on the ballot itself)

Today, the party had two mini SUV crossovers in the parade, former Knox County Democrat Chair Linda Haney and few volunteers. They handed out miniature flags but the reception was very cold. In addition to having their only Democrat legislator facing serious charges with the feds over some money allegations, a very unpopular President, a couple of controversial Supreme Court decisions on ObamaCare and re-defining marriage.

Hang on Demos, it is gonna get worse, long before it gets better!
