Fourth of July Message from Senator Becky Duncan Massey

Following the Fourth of July Independence Day parade, MY State Senator Becky Duncan Massey sent out a brief message with a few quotes to enjoy and a picture of the volunteers that assisted her in the parade. Here it is.As we celebrate our nation’s freedom, we honor the courageous men and women dedicated to preserving it. May we celebrate that precious freedom for which our forebearers fought so bravely. I hope your Independence Day is filled with friends, family and a time to remember and celebrate what makes our country so great.

 Quotes to Enjoy

You will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom.  I hope you will make good use of it.  John Quincy Adams

Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirt of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Our thanks to you for all you do

Defending our flag the red, white and blue

As Americans, we know what freedom means

The joy the peace and the right to dream

Freedom we love but it is not free

The sacrifice is great and you give willingly

Our thoughts and prayers are with you today

As you fight for freedom so far away

May God keep you safe in all that you do

And bring you back home to those who love you

I Am An American

I am an American.

That’s the way most of us put it, just matter of factly.

They are plain words, those four.

You could write them on your thumbnail,

or you could sweep them clear across this bright autumn sky.

But remember too that they are more than words.

They are a way of life.

So whenever you speak them, speak them firmly;

speak them proudly; speak them gratefully.

I am an American.
