The Incumbent 4th District Commissioner Admits He is a Flip Flopper

Tonight the West Knox Republican Club met, the three Republican candidates were the featured speakers. The current incumbent along with Hugh Nystrom and Janet Testerman spoke. Nystrom discussed his professional career, his wife Angela and their son Trace. Nystrom discussed his work at Childhelp, where he runs the day to day work of running the organization that assists in child victim crimes and foster care. Testerman discussed her life and career. She discussed and painted a good picture of public service being like a house. You must breath new life into a house by upkeep and improvements.

Knox County’s Fourth District need to improve it’s representative, by replacing the incumbent. The incumbent has brought about much embarrassment to the district in his personal choices. Tonight, he acknowledged he flip flopped on the Proposed Knox County Safety Center. He was against the initial Safety Center and now wants to build a 100 bed or more regional safety center. He attempts to explain that his flip flop is because of the Lakeshore closing. Of course, he leaves out that his spouse was and employee at Lakeshore when he opposed the closure. After a question was asked about business parks, the incumbent acknowledges he was against the Midway Road business park and is now for it.  The Flip Flopper in the Fourth is not leadership, it is a pattern of being for whatever is convenient at the moment, in this authors opinion.

Ownby was so disjointed and confusing last night. He said something about a pet ordinance and then said “we lost 22 citizens”. I get that his qualifications are grossly lacking of that of Nystrom and Testerman. As a fourth district voter, I wish he would not embarrass his family another time with this loss,
