Recaps of Several County Commission Candidates Finance Disclosures

As of February 2, 2016 three Democrats, two Republicans and 1 Independent have not filed their February 1, 2016 Campaign Finance Disclosure. Democrat First District County Commission candidate Evelyn Gill, Democrat Fourth District County Commission candidate Marleen Davis and Democrat Sixth District County Commission candidate Donna Lucas have not filed disclosures as of yet. Republican First District County Commission candidate Michael Covington, Republican Ninth District County Commission candidate Carson Dailey and Independent First District County Commission candidate Tyrone LaMar Fine have not filed disclosures yet.

Republican Fifth District County Commission Candidate John Schoonmaker filed the 2/1/2016 report on 1/29/2016, he apparently is his Treasurer. Although the Knox County Election Commission does not have an appointment of Treasurer form online.   Additionally, the last disclosure online for Schoonmaker Knox County Fifth District Commission, he had a Treasurer and still had a $4,427.00 loan.

The Democrat Fifth District County Commission Candidate Sheri Ridgeway filed a disclosure, she has raised no money and spent no money. Schoonmaker and Ridgeway face off in the General election on August 4, 2016.

Democrat Ninth Commission District County Commission Candidate James Brandon Hamilton has raised $1,035.00 and spent nothing. Independent Ninth District County Commission Candidate Tom Pierce has raised $25.00 and spent nothing. We do not know about Republican Ninth District County Commission Candidate Carson Dailey yet as he has failed to file. Hamilton, Pierce and Dailey will face off in the August 4, 2016 General Election.

Republican Eighth District County Commission Candidate and Chairman of the Commission Dave Wright has raised $860 and spent $150 with $710 on hand. Independent Eighth District County Commission Candidate Don Wiser reports raising no money and spend none. Wiser and Wright will face each other in the August 4, 2016 General Election.

Democrat Second District County Commission Candidate Laura Kildaire reports $650 on hand. Democrat Second District County Commission Candidate Cheri Siler reports having $35.63 on hand. In late December 2015, Siler announced she was suspending her campaign. If Kildaire is successful in the Second District Democrat Primary on March 1, 2016, she will face the winner of the Republican Primary, Michele Carringer or John Fugate.

Democrat First District County Commission Candidate Rick Staples reports having had $30.40, he raised $4,950.00, spent $4,357.12 leaving him with $623.28. The Democrat Challenger Evelyn Gill has not filed yet. The winner either Staples or Gill will face Republican Michael Covington and Independent Tyrone LaMar Fine in the August 4, 2016 General Election.

Sixth District County Commissioner Brad Anders had $376.40, he raised $8,950.00, spent $3,587.75 with a balance on hand of $5,738.65 His opponent John Ashley raised $4,800.00, spent $3,599.81 and has $1,205.69 on hand. He has a $550 obligation with Achievement Business Group of Maynardville for website. Additionally, he has a $20 self loan to the campaign. An oddity on Ashley’s filing is $4,800 in kind contributions which are good and services not paid for but are provided to the campaign as a contribution. There is no detail of the $4,800 in kind contributions.

The three Fourth District Republican County Commission candidate campaign financial disclosures will be under a separate story. In addition, the Second District Republican County Commission candidate campaign financial disclosures also will be written about later.
