Violate the Sunshine Law AGAIN!

As the Knox County Commission / Knox County School Board Joint Education Commission meeting ended today a discussion about the next meeting and the subjects for the next meeting. Commissioner Jeff Ownby of the the Fourth District made the comment, I don’t want to violate the Sunshine Law. A comment was overheard from Commissioner Brad Anders AGAIN. An obvious reference to this March 29, 2016 story, this subsequent April 4, 2016 Knox News Sentinel story and/or this April 4, 2016 story on BrianHornback.Com

Ownby was quick to say the Law Director approved it. Maybe the Law Director approved it before they debated and voted on it less than two weeks after seven Commissioners used the letter to deliberate to a conclusion less than 14 days before a Commission meeting. The only opinion that matters now, is a Presiding Judge of a Court of Jurisdiction that will listen to the sworn (with penalty of perjury)  testimony in open court, with questioning from a legitimate legal counsel. Yes, in my humble and kind opinion, Bud Armstrong is not a competent legal counsel in this matter as he has already opined and is conflicted out.

Sunshine-Law-1

Of the seven Sunshine Law Violators, Commissioner Randy Smith, Charlie Busler and Ed Brantley are not eligible for re-election until 2018. Commissioner Ownby lost the Republican Primary on March 1, 2016 garnering about 17% of the total district Republican votes. Commissioner Mike Brown is not seeking re-election, Commissioner John Schoonmaker the author and ring leader of the letter faces Sheri Ridgeway on August 4, 2016 General Election. Commission Chairman Dave Wright faces Don Wiser on August 4, 2016 General Election.
