State Representatives and State Senator Primary Campaign Finances Disclosed

During the 2016 Knox Co. Primary Elections we reported on all the campaign finance disclosures. As we approach the August 4, 2016 State and Federal Primary and the County General Election we will continue. There is only one contested State primary, there are a few Republican-vs-Democrat races and one Democrat-vs-Independent race in November. These races are the ones that represent Knox Co citizens. What we know and find out on their finances we will report as well. These filings are from First Quarter 2016 filings that were filed earlier this month.

Let’s go with the Republican contested State Representative District 18 race first.

James Corcoran has receieved $1,800 in contributions, he loaned his campaign $2,529.00 and spent $29.00 for an on hand amount of $4,300. Additionally, he has contributed $500 of an in-kind contribution for the campaign headquarters.

Martin Daniel had $10,586.69 on hand he reports receiving no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session), he reports $8,000.51 in expenditures. Expenditures include mini storage, mailing/postage, printing, two campaign workers consultant, a campaign management consultant, two research and polling consultants. Daniel reported $2,586.18 on hand. Additionally, Daniel has a $149,600.00 outstanding loan balance. yes that is (one hundred forty nine thousand six hundred dollars) Looks like a mini Federal budget, but that is my first amendment free speech opinion. We will be watching where the lobbyist dollars come from now that the session is over. Here is the report.

Bryan Dodson has reported raising zero dollars, spending zero dollars, loan zero dollars and obligating zero dollars. It is a balanced budget filing.

Steve Hall‘s last filing he had $42,079.32 on hand, no contributions, no expenditures, a $10,000 outstanding loan and no obligations outstanding.

Brandi Price is a Democrat, she will face the August 4 Republican Primary winner on November 8, 2016. Early Voting October 19 – November 3, 2016. Price has raised $32.21 and spent $32.21 in printing. She has no loans, no obligations and no in-kind contributions.

State Representative District 13

Eddie Smith had $23,911.94 on hand, he received no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session), he reports $4,132.62 in expenditures, there are no loans, no in-kind contributions and no obligations. Smith has $19,779.32 on hand.

Gloria Johnson had $2,088.60 on hand, she received $40,395.00 in contributions, she spent $2,578.29 for a balance of $39,905.31 she has no loans, no obligations outstanding. She did have $250 of an in-kind contributions.

Smith and Johnson will face off on November 8, 2016 with Early Voting from October 19 – November 3, 2016

State Representative District 14

Jason Zachary had $17,408.54 on hand, he received no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session), he reports expenditures of $2,374.24 and has $15,034.30 on hand with no loans and no obligations outstanding.

Scott Hacker has not filed a disclosure yet and likely isn’t required to do so yet.

Zachary and Hacker will face off on November 8, 2016 with Early Voting from October 19 – November 3, 2016

State Representative District 15

Joe Armstrong reports $17,492.64 on hand, he has received no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session), he has spent $11,990.51 and has $15,502.13 on hand. He has no loans, no obligations and no in-kind reports.

Pete Drew has not filed a current report since January 26, 2015. Drew is running as an Independent.

Armstrong and Drew will face off on November 8, 2016, Early Voting from October 19 – November 3, 2016.

State Representative District 16

Bill Dunn reports $40,344.41 on hand, he received no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session) he spent $687.25, he reports no obligations, no loans and no in-kind contributions.

Dunn has no opponent in August or November

State Representative District 19

Harry Brooks had $81,015.22 on hand, he received no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session), he spent $4,372.57 and has $76,642.65 on hand. He has a $6,695.85 loan, no in-kind contributions, no outstanding obligations.

Brooks has no opponent in August or November.

State Representative District 89

Roger Kane reports $51,135.70 on hand, he received no contributions (state law prohibits contributions during session), he reports spending $1,565.93 with a balance of $49,569.77 on hand. Kane has no outstanding loans, obligations or in-kind contributions.

Heather Hensley has not filed a report yet and likely isn’t required to do so, yet.

State Senate District Six

Becky Duncan Massey had $198,264.09 on hand, she received $9.09 in interest, (state law prohibits contributions during session), she reports $4,600.24 in expenditures and has a balance of $193,672.94 Massey has no primary and no general election opponents.

    Daniel is still paying the guy that was supposedly under TBI investigation for his work with Briggs and a local yokel paper. I wonder if Daniel has used his office to get TBI to drop that investigation if it was ever an investigation to begin with…Ben Ben
