Knox County and Town of Farragut Election Day Results, Congrats to the Winners, Especially Cardiac Arrest Carringer

Knox County Commission

First District Democrat Evelyn Gill won with 950 votes or 67.14% to Michael Covington‘s 403 votes or 28.48% to Tyrone LaMar Fine‘s 62 votes or 4.38%. Gill is the ONLY Democrat on an 11 member legislative body.

Second District Republican Michele (Cardiac Arrest ) Carringer won with 1,423 votes to Democrat Laura K. Kildare 1,348 votes. Carringer maintained a lead all night narrowing it at one point to 8 votes. BUT, she won. She and Husband Mike Carringer won this one the old fashioned way…..they earned it. The weekly newsprint publications were against her, the daily newsprint publication was against her. Her sole advertising was on high traffic local political op-ed blog BrianHornback.Com

Fourth District, you can raise your head from your four years of embarrassment. Republican Hugh Nystrom received 2,593 votes or 57.66% to Democrat Marleen Davis 1,904 votes or 42.34%.

Fifth District Republican John Schoonmaker received 2,654 votes of 75.92% to Democrat Sheri Ridgeway receiving 842 votes or 24.08%

Sixth District Republican Brad Anders received 1,296 votes or 65.92% to Democrat Donna G. Lucas 670 votes or 34.08%.

Eighth District Republican Dave Wright  received 1,140 votes or 79.50% to Independent Candidate Don Wiser 294 votes or 20.50%

Ninth District Republican Carson Dailey received 953 votes or 58.72% to Democrat James “Brandon” Hamilton 558 votes or 34.38% to Independent Tom Pierce 112 votes or 6.90%. South of the River has always had a decently strong Democrat party presence, having had Democrat representation on County Commission and School Board. Hamilton appears to be the new face, the new presence, after following Dailey’s four years and strengthening his presence and reaching across to Republicans and Independents the next race will be a nail biter.

Property Assessor John R. Whitehead lead the Knox County ticket. He garnered the most votes countywide, 15,283

Law Director Richard “Bud” Armstrong the Knox County Law Director (endorsed by Tim Burchett in March) fell below the Whitehead threshold receiving ONLY 14,699. Armstrong has been in the law director’s position for four years, Whitehead is replacing the Phil Ballard/Jim Weaver regime of eight years.
