Whoops They (Shopper) Did It Again

Last week, I reported here about the Shopper News published account of former Knoxville Mayor Victor Ashe reporting about former Knox County Democrat Party Chairman Charles Susano‘s son “is planning to seek the office of Circuit Court Clerk in 2018″. Now today, the Knoxville News Sentinel‘s Georgiana Vines reports that Susano “has started the process of exploring a run for the position in the May 2018 GOP primary”.  From a definite run to exploring a run. Vines is a more experienced reporter than a former Mayor once found guilty of violating the civil rights of Knoxville firefighters.

According to Vines only candidates Don Ridings and Scott Smith have filed the necessary paperwork to name treasurers, meaning they can raise money. Tim Wheeeler is expected to run for the position and Tim Burchett another rumored potential candidate has not been referenced in either Ashe or Vines column.

The matter of fact reporting by Ashe of a Susano candidacy while Vines reports the fact it is a potential exploratory process reminds me of an incident earlier this year when Shopper writer Betty Bean reported that First District Knox County Commission candidate Michael Covington supported rolling back the voting rights act. Read the BrianHornback.Com post here, When Covington talked to Shopper Supervisor Sandra Clark, the response given to Covington was that Bean said she heard it but Covington was not told where or who Bean had heard it. Clark published a Covington response to the Bean accusation.

It is comical to me to see all the sloppy work by the Shopper, because of the many things I have heard about the 12 plus years of BrianHornback.Com that this website is a beacon of demagoguery, misinformation and hateful personal attacks, the allegations are always from individuals that do not independently fact check the website. The consistent comments that I receive from people that commit to the due diligence task of fact checking the website is that it is the more insightful and balanced review of the goings-on in our community, state, nation and world.

Allow me to remind you that in October 2013 this author and website was targeted with a libel/slander lawsuit, on September 11, 2015 this writer was granted Summary Judgement in that litigation. So, it seems with Ashe’s loose reporting about the Susano’s candidacy and Bean’s inability to prove Covington’s position of desiring to repeal the voting rights act is looser and less truthful than anything published here, in my humble opinion.
