Who Pulls the Local Media’s Strings?

On Friday, I broke a story about a Knox County Sheriff’s Office Incident report from an alleged act that occurred one week ago today. The alleged suspect is an announced candidate for public office in Knox County in 2018, who also happens to be a former Knox County elected official.

No other media in Knoxville has picked up the story. The Knoxville News Sentinel, WBIR, WATE or WVLT or NewsTalk 98.7FM did not print or utter a word. Sources in those organizations have said there has been considerable talk in the newsrooms.

You say well it’s an investigation. That is correct. When this story progresses or concludes I will write a follow up story. Becuase this person is an active candidate that has reportedly raised in excess of $50,000 in campaign contributions, why is NOT a news story?

Lets examine a couple of scenarios where the local media jumped quickly. In the Summer of 2015, a former Knox County Commissioner (not an announced candidate) was stopped by KPD and after a field sobriety test was arrested for DUI, in the incident report it stated that there was an odor of an illegal drug. Less than 24 hours after this former Commissioner was released from jail, a local TV station ran with the news story of the arrest and the arrest report allegations. Nearly six months later the former Commissioner was exonerated because the hair and blood work came back negative for alcohol and drug use in the Commissioners body. Did the media jump to announce the former Commissioner was wrongly arrested? NO. Did they report the former Commissioner was exonerated? NO

The News Sentinel continually allows and permits a former Knoxville Mayor to write false (fake) news about Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero in a News Sentinel owned weekly paper, but can not write about a public document?

In October 2013, a lawsuit was filed against this website, within hours of the filing of that lawsuit and more than a week before the lawsuit was served to me. Every media outlet ran the story and was calling for comment. Almost two years later when through effective legal representation a Summary Judgement was awarded to me on 9/11/2015, a couple media entities reported the outcome but NOT all of them and certainly not as enthusiastically as they reported the suit in October of 2013.

So, it really begs a couple questions, did the fact that BrianHornback.Com have the incident report before all the others compel them not to report it?

Is someone(s) pulling the medias strings in not reporting it for some reason unbeknownst to the public?

Will the media EVER report the story? If the suspect is cleared or if the suspect is charged.

It seems that Knoxville media is anti woman, they allow Ashe to write outright lies on Mayor Rogero but his boi Timmy gets a free pass.

Now an allegation of a man assaulting a woman and we will just let it pass under the rug until he is charged, or will they report it then?

Knoxville likes the pretty girls reading the news on the television BUT they need to keep their mouths shut and don’t dare speak out against one of the chosen ones.

The County Mayor and his highest ranking staff member have thrown away and gotten spouses in the last 6 years and little is said of that.

Hey Brian why don’t you publish the County Mayor’s swearing in photo from 2010 and the one from 2014. Two pictures will speak a million words
