SASEF 2017 Ends with a Farragut Admiral Winner

Tonight the 66th Annual SASEF (Southern Appalachian Science and Engineering Fair concluded with an Awards Program.

In the Junior Division (Middle School) the Junior Special Reserve Champion was Dmitri Kalinin, Saint John Neumann Catholic School with Teacher Brett Shafer. The project entitled Salty, sour and soapy cells: separately and simultaneously The Junior Grand Champion was Maria Augustina Fanelli, Saint John Neumann Catholic School with Teacher Brett Shafer The project Helping the Earth: Do-It-Yourself bio-plastics.

In the Senior Division (High School) the Senior Special Reserve went to Ryan Armstrong of Oak Ridge High School Teacher Tammy Carneim with project Quantifying the Evolution of Gas from Li-ion Battery Materials. The Senior Champion went to Michael Lin of Farragut High School Teacher Neely Tonos with a project Identification of Volatiles Produced by Agrobacterium.

Lin will travel to the International Science Fair in Los Angeles, CA May 14-19, 2017 to compete. His trip is provided by the SASEF.
