Breaking News: KNOX COUNTY MAYORAL CANDIDATE GLENN JACOBS CALLS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – September 4, 2017 – Knox County Mayoral Candidate Glenn Jacobs is calling for accountability and transparency in local government, including candidates for office. Citing a dark time in local government, Black Wednesday, he stands firm on the fact that Knoxville and Knox County residents deserve better than backroom politicking and bribery.

‘The reason I’m running for Knox County Mayor is because I’m tired of politics as usual,” Jacobs said. “Elected officials should never forget that they are there to serve their constituents, not the other way around. Knox County has come a long way since Black Wednesday, and we don’t need individuals taking us back in time.”

If elected as Knox County Mayor, Jacobs will propose a full review of the county’s current ethics policy in an effort to clarify any gray areas.

“Rules that can be bent are practically worthless. The ethics policy should provide an easily understood standard of conduct that protects the public’s interests and ensures a high level of confidence in the integrity of our elected officials,” he added.

Knox County residents are invited to attend a free event hosted by Jacobs on September 21 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Jacob’s Building at Chilhowee Park. Residents are encouraged to stop by, meet the mayoral candidate and share any concern they have for the county.
