Rest In Peace Bill Emmert

This week one of our Knox County Republicans was laid to rest. Bill Emmert of Thorngrove. Emmert was active to the local Knox County Republican Party when I first volunteered in 1982, 36 years ago.

Bill passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018. He was a Member of Jefferson City Christian Church. Bill was also a member of Thorn Grove Odd Fellows Lodge for more than 50 years and was a Past Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows for the State of Tennessee, and the Knox County Republican Executive Committee where he served as Chair of the Thorn Grove Precinct for several years. He was very active in the local Republican Party and had served in several local, state, and national campaigns.

Mr. Emmert was employed by Knox County Highway (Engineering and Public Works) as General Manager and Superintendent for 27 years, retiring in 2008. Bill loved gospel music and singing and a NASCAR fan. Bill was very active in the original defeat of the Midway Business Park Development. He was previously employed by Tennessee Asphalt Co. for 20 years as a Sales Manager. Survived by loving wife, Janie Moore Emmert; children, Steven Moore, Eddie Moore and Misty Provence; grandchildren, Lexie Moore and Jaxon Provence.
