Schoon’s Reason and His Replacement

John Schoonmaker more than a month ago resigned from the Knox County Retirement and Pension Board. He refused to tell me (a constituent) why he resigned, last month at Commission meeting, he was asked and said that would inflorm on 11/13/2018.

Yesterday he said vaguely said he was pursuing other options, he had served for two years and felt it was time for others to serve. Somewhat valid reasons, but why not do that in September when you signed up for another year?

I am told that recently in Chattanooga, Schoonmaker wanted a position with TCCA but Loudon County Commissioner Julia Hurley apparently got that position.

So Commissioner Randy Smith nominated himself, Commissioner Carson Dailey nominated his pal Charles Busler. Smith was elected over Busler.

Unfortuantely the Special Commission meeting was not aired on CTVKnox so I am relying on sources and not what I witnessed.
