What is Different Here?

Over the weekend, a Knox County Sheriff Officer answers an alarm call presumably at a residence in Powell. The homeowner apparently unaware of the visitor comes to the door apparently armed, a shot is fired by the officer, No one is hurt.

However, in the past when an officer discharges his service weapon he is placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. But not so in this incident. Why?

Additionally in the past there is an operational agreement with Knoxville Police Department and Knox County Sheriff’s Office that when there is a shooting the other agency investigates, but not in this incident. Why?

Now we learn from the daily paper that the Officer and Homeowner are both Knox County Sheriff Employees. All the more reason for an outside agency review IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. But hey I am an opinion writer, what do I know?
