When Elected Officials do the Job With No Fanfare

I get frustrated sometimes when I see an elected official take treats to government employees for doing their jobs. Then that elected official, post a picture bragging on themselves for recognizing and then treating the employees.

Knox County Mayor Glen Jacobs does not operate like a politician, primarily because he is not a politician. I attend events that Mayor Jacobs is at and rarely write about it.

A few weeks ago, my friend Walt Wojnar invited me to attend a small business roundtable with Mayor Jacobs and I went.

Wojnar and the owners of his company LodgingSmith along with Gerald Allison of Rocky Top Air and Ben Franklin Plumbing along with Knoxville Attorney Glenn Rutherford attended and a great discussion was had about small business and educating the future employees of these businesses.

Jacobs came without any Mayoral staff person and was comfortable and at ease, I believe because he understands the issues because he is a small business owner.
