The 2020 Knox County Charter Review Committee Selects Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary

Every eight years in Knox County a panel of citizens appointed by nine County Commissioners, the nine County Commissioners and nine appointees by the Knox County Mayor meet to review the Knox County Charter for any additions, deletions etc. to be voted on by the citizens of Knox County.

I reported here on December 12, 2019 the 27 members of the Charter Review Committee. They are by Commission district.

1. Jered Croom, Sam Mckenzie and Commissioner Evelyn Gill 
2. Dan Davis, Amanda Benedict and Commissioner Michele Carringer
3. James Corcoran, Mark Mamantov and Commissioner Randy Smith
4. John Gill, Scott Davis and Commissioner Hugh Nystrom
5. Bill Johns, Mike Arms and Commissioner John Schoonmaker
6. Gary Drinnen, Daniel Herrera and Commissioner Brad Anders
7. Sandra Sexton, Rachel Sanders and Commissioner Charles Busler
8. Lisa Starbuck, John Valliant and Commissioner Richie Beeler

9. Barry Neal, Nick Pavlis and Commissioner Carson Dailey

Three members were absent for this initial meeting, they were John Gill, Brad Anders and Richie Beeler.

This evening, the order of business was to elect a Chair, Vic-Chair and Secretary and a report from Knox County Law Director Richard (Bud) Armstrong about meetings and open meetings etc.

On the first round of voting for Charter Review Committee Chairman, there were four candidates. James Corcoran, Lisa Starbuck, Daniel Herrera and Brad Anders. After two rounds of votes Brad Anders was elected Chair by 15 votes to Starbucks 6 votes.

On the Vice-Chair there were two nominees Lisa Starbuck and Sam McKenzie, Sam McKenzie was elected by 20 votes.

Lisa Starbucks was elected Secretary unanimously by acclamation.
