I am Loving these ZOOM Government Meetings, a Couple of Observations from the Knoxville/Knox County MPC Meeting Yesterday

So, yesterday I observed the ZOOM Knoxville/Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission meeting. The meeting began at 1:30 pm, shortly after 3, they had heard three items and had less than a dozen more to go. The Chair called for a recess and said they would reconvene at 3:20 pm.

As a personal note, it is best if you are not talking to mute yourself. Very shortly after the recess began, someone said “goodness this is gonna be a long ass meeting” later during the recess another one is heard to say, “this is insane”.

Also, during the meeting there was a rezoning for Villa Collina the home on Lyons View Pike (reported to be Tennessee’s largest home) Mr. Eric Barton bought it in, I believe 2016 and has used it for many fundraisers and charitable events. Due to the Knoxville and MPC Recode changes of January 1, 2020, it would best be suited to be zoned Agricultural. Of course, the MPC unanimously rejected the rezoning. However, the funny (in my opinion) was when a Commissioner was justifying their own no vote stated that she had been to Villa Collina on a couple to three occasions for charitable events, she was shuttled in and out and did not believe these was a good event venue. I thought well dang, I haven’t been there yet. But alright!
