When the Knox County Commissioners Just Really Don’t Care

Since the middle of April, nearly everyday Knox County Health Department has discussed Knox County’s 5 Core Principles, which are:

  • Practice social distancing,
  • Wearing cloth face coverings when in public and social distancing can’t be achieved,
  • Wash your hands properly and often,
  • Clean surfaces regularly, and
  • Stay home when sick.

The Knox County Commission hasn’t met in person since March, all the meetings were Zoom until today. As soon as they are together at 5 pm. They did not practice social distancing and while less than six feet away they did not wear face coverings.

The first Public Forum speaker at 5 pm Laura Squires asked if she could remove her face covering as she spoke since she was more than six feet away, Chairman Hugh Nystrom said yes but apparently it phased not one of the Commissioners.

at 2 minutes till 9 pm Chairman Nystrom called Dr. Martha Buchanan up to discuss the KCHD (Knox County Health Department) budget for next year (July 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021) and asked her how her people were.

Too bad she was having to protect her budget instead of saying, <inserting my words, not Buchanan’s> well watching you people ignore the first two core principles the last four hours makes us feel that you all don’t care.<my words completed>
