An Organization or Three….Do NOT Speak for EVERYONE

The Tennessean has a story about a Nashville billboard that is critical of Governor Bill Lee and the members of the TN Legislature that support a permit less gun carry bill in Tennessee “opposed by law enforcement”. It has been opposed by Memphis Police DepartmentTennessee Sheriff’s Association and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

This morning, Knoxville Police Department Chief Eve Thomas appeared on WBIR‘s talking head show Inside TN opposing the law. I am sure many of the crimes in Knoxville were committed without a handgun carry permit, but I digress.

Those three entities (four to include Chief Thomas) DO NOT represent ALL law enforcement in Tennessee as was stated by Chairman Rep. Chris Todd (R-Madison County) during a TN House Committee meeting I watched this week.

So, I will agree with TN Governor Bill Lee along with the bill Sponsor Republican Leader William Lamberth, House Co-Sponsors Rep. Ron Gant, Rep. Jerry Sexton, Rep. Bryan Terry, Rep. Bruce Griffey, Rep. Rusty Grills, Rep. Jeremy Faison, Rep. Lowell Russell, Rep. Curtis Halford, Rep. Paul Sherrell. So, yeah Faison is likely that blind squirrel that finds a nut everyone once in a while. Don’t expect me to agree with him often though. Also in the Senate, Senate Sponsor Senator Jack Johnson and Senate Co-Sponsors Sen. Mike Bell, Sen. Jon Lundberg, Sen. Bill Powers, Sen. Janice Bowling, Sen. John Stevens.
