Vice Mayor McKenzie & Tommy Smith Lead the Incumbents to Victory

The results of the City of Knoxville City Council are in and the incumbents all have four more years.

In District 1 Tommy Smith bested Elizabeth Murphy with 56.88 % of the vote (11,723 votes to 8,886 votes for Murphy)

In District 2 Andrew Roberto garnered 55.50% of the vote over Kim Smith (11,431 votes to 9,164 votes)

 

In District 3, Seema Singh broke the third district hex. She won the primary and earned 55.63% of the vote to Challenger Nick Ciparro (11,443 votes for Seema to 9,127 for Ciparro)

In District 4, Lauren Rider carried the day with 55.66% of the vote over Knoxville Restauranteur Jim Klonaris. (Rider with 11,617 votes to 9,255 for Klonaris)

In District 6 Vice Mayor Gwen McKenzie bested newcomer and Businessman Garrett Holt  with 57,51% of the vote (McKenzie with 11,971 votes to Holts 8,845)

McKenzie and Tommy Smith lead the way.

Knox County Republican Party Chairman Daniel Herrera pledged party efforts and money to ensure as he was quoted a clean sweep, this sweep is not the one I suspect he meant.
