Knox Sheriff Outside Legal Counsel and Law Director LOST in Chancery Court

So, Knox County Law Director David Buuck said back in November that an expensive lawsuit was in Knox County Chancery Court and that this grievance hearing (Martha Dooley) shouldn’t be heard by the Knox County Merit Council. Buuck said he repeatedly told the Merit System Council this is not a situation with grievability. Well a majority of the Knox County Commission (rightly in my opinion) said (in November) let’s wait.

This morning, Chancellor Chris Heagerty ruled this hearing can proceed, ruling in favor of Martha Dooley and the Knox County Merit System Council for Sheriffs Employees. The ruling against Tom Spangler , in his official capacity as Sheriff of Knox County and Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Apparently, Prince could not find “the crack” that Chancellor Heagerty told him he had. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The likely hearing will be around February 22, 2022.
