Kuhlman’s Rhetoric Doesn’t Match Her Actions

Tonight at the Karns Republican Club the topic of partisan School Board elections came up while Knox County Republican Party Chair Ruth Kuhlman was giving her report. She said that she sent a letter to all Republican County Commissioners reminding them of the action of the Republican Executive Committee at the county reorganization convention.

An attendee at the meeting said that he called a staff person in Nashville and she had informed him that legislation at the Capital does not rise or fall on the backs of actions by the County Commission. He said this bill got pulled because “Duncan Massey and Rep. Bill Dunn folded like a composition paper.” He continued to say that “we must put pressure on them.” The entire time Chair Kuhlman was shaking her head in agreement. She then said calls are being made.

The Karns Club during the reading of the minutes reported that last months Speaker Steve Hunley was unable to attend.

When the topic of in fighting and partisan vs non partisan races came up. Chair Kuhlman referred to the city elections. I pointed out that someone that has always said he is a REPUBLICMAN and also publishes a weekly newspaper supported the Democrat for Mayor. Evidently, my point toward Kuhlman’s friend hit a nerve. She swung her head around and angrily said, “you probably did too.” I said “NO, I supported Ivan Harmon” She said, I did too an swung back around. To which I said “look we were on the same side, Ruth”

She said there would be no infighting while she is Chair. Ruh Roh, that is exactly what Chair Kuhlman had just done. She attacked a former Knox County Republican Chairman and accused me of something that I have never done. Personal, Petty and Angry that is how she came off tonight.
