School Board Chair Admits Joint Committee Was Formed to Skirt Open Meetings Law

This article from the Big Metal Shed on the Hill details that Knox County Law Director Richard “Bud” Armstrong has opined, informed and is holding the Joint Education Committee of Knox County School Board and Knox County Commission to the letter of the law.

This quote by the School Board Chair and a Member of the Joint Education Committee is an acknowledgment that the expressed intent in creating the committee was and is to bypass the Sunshine Law.

“If that’s so, that defeats the whole purpose of having this committee,”

Karen Carson, chairwoman of the Knox County Schools Board of Education and a committee member

Good job, Law Director Armstrong!
