A Deterrent is a Staller of Crime

You have likely heard the news of the young mother and her two year old that were out on a trail at Ijams Nature Center in South Knoxville, a perpetrator knocked the two year old down and sexually assaulted the young mother.

Over here on the local liberal playground. A comment was made that guns in parks did not prevent the assault. City of Knoxville Official Bill Lyons comes back and explains that the City of Knoxville has banned guns in parks.

I believe Lyons point is in fact contrary to what he hoped it would do. The argument can be made that the perpetrator had he thought that guns in parks were likely present, the assault may not have occurred. The guns in parks bill, in my opinion was not about arming citizens but in fact is a deterrent. If people wanting to do wrong, know that it easier to do the wrong in one place rather than another place. That is where they are likely to go.
