Is That Robo-Call Superintendent Approved or Authorized?

Got a report from a Ninth District citizen that their home received a robo-call (automated voice message) from Dr. Roy Miller a South Knox Elementary School Principal asking for the citizens vote for South Knox School Board Member Pam Trainor.

Is that Superintendent Dr. James P. McIntyre, Jr. Approved and/or Authorized?

When I contacted Knox County Schools Director of Public Affairs Mellissa Ogden, she said “Roy Miller made Dr. McIntyre aware that he was considering making an automated call in support of Ms. Trainor. Dr. McIntyre consulted the Knox County Deputy Law Director who indicated that such a call would not violate School Board policy as long as Dr. Miller did not use any school system resources in making the call and he did not include his position or school as part of the communication. Dr. McIntyre was further advised that as an individual citizen, Dr. Miller has a first amendment right to articulate his support for any candidate for office, and that right should not be unreasonably abridged by his employer.”

Sounds good.

What a load of crap! We need to take back our school system!

Question: Did Miller say he was a Knox Co. school principal?

If he did, it would seem he was using his title and in violation.

Old Roy doesn’t play by the rules. He has a big Pam Trainor sign on his car he parks at school.

Then at the least he should receive a letter of reprimand in his file for violating school’s and county policy, unless McIntyre doesn’t play by the rules either when the action is done in support of one of his supporters.

I think Dr. Miller has a first amendment right to have a sticker or a sign on his car for the candidate of his choice. Mayor Burchett has a sticker of his own on his vehicle and at least one of his employees has one on their car
