Is Knox County Government Endorsing an Insurance Agent?

Facebook blew up with an ad today with a high ranking Knox County Mayor appointed employee appearing in the ad. The ad stated financial advisors select (redacted agent name). First, I contacted Knox County Purchasing to see when the bid proposals were submitted. Because as a licensed life insurance agent, I would have submitted my credentials. Purchasing Director Hugh Holt says he is unaware of special risk insurance and encouraged me to contact Mark Jones with Knox County Risk Department.

Instead, I messaged Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, Chief of Staff Dean Rice and the Mayor’s mouthpiece Michael Grider. Obviously, the Mayor’s office was aware of the incident. Because the Mayor’s mouthpiece immediately replied, “That’s a picture from an interview Chris did promoting the friends of literacy bachelor auction. Has nothing to do with the guy’s agency. I have a call into his office. The agent was also in the friends of literacy auction.”

So, if it is an agent that misrepresented his FB ad. Knox County should file a complaint with the governing state body that governs licensed agents.

Stay tuned!
