Apparently Commissioner Tony Norman Is Not a Rule Follower

Mike Donila over at Screams From the Porch has this post about Commissioner Tony Norman. It seems that Norman in his typical passive aggressive self has sent a letter to Dr. McIntyre asking for all the cost associated with a teacher / administration dispute.

Norman clearly doesn’t understand the agreed order between the body he serves on Knox County Commission and the Knox County School Board (which he doesn’t serve on). The order stated that there be limited debate (actually no debate) on items that are within the schools budget.

It is clear to me that the detailed summary of costs that Norman is requesting are in fact, part of what has been approved and is none debatable for Commission. A violation by Norman of the court agreed order. I would hope that Dr. McIntyre would submit the agreed order along with Norman’s request to the court. Asking the court to determine if Norman is in fact in contempt of court.

As for School Board issues, two school board seats are to be determined this Thursday August 7, 2014 in the Knox County General Election.

In District 1, I was neutral UNTIL a couple of E.W. Scripps writers “reported” that incumbent Gloria Deathridge is critically ill and not expected to survive a four year term. Deathridge denies the assertion made by Sandra Clark and Betty Bean. This political tactic to scare voters to vote for Deathridge’s opponent is low class, dirty political scheme. A vote for Deathridge is a vote for an independent voice on the school board. If Deathridge’s opponent wins, he will just be a rubber stamp to Clark and Bean.

In District 6, Retired School Social Worker Terry Hill faces PTA President Sandra Rowcliffe. These candidates finished first and second in a crowd of four in the May 6, 2014 primary. I do not see the other candidates endorsing the PTA president. Additionally, the past actions of the PTA President in publicly disclosed court documents reveal that her actions are determined on emotional knee jerk reactions. Not the calming, reasoned representative that the citizens of District 6 have been accustomed to with the representation of Thomas Deakins the past 8 years. A vote for Hill, is a vote for reasoned, intelligent and minimal drama at the School Board meetings.
