Last week the Knox County School Board held a workshop on Monday and a Voting Meeting on Thursday.
Former School Board Member, Former School Board Chair, Former Knox County Commission Chair and Knox County Commissioner Terry Hill signed up to speak at the Thursday meeting. Commissioner Hill signed up to speak to Ethics. She wanted to bring attention to the Ethics Policy and where it needs to be revised and upgraded. Hill asked for the courtesy of an additional 3 minutes for a total of 6 minutes. Only Vice Chair Steve Triplett opposed Hill having six minutes saying the meeting had gone too long already. Of course Triplett is the guy that has proposed abolishing the workshop, and have only one meeting.
Free Speech is a great thing, I am grateful that 8 School Board members believe in it. Whether I agree with what is said or not, I believe in your right to say it. Just as Chair Henderson had a right to speak and continue to defend her position. So, does Hill have the right to disagree. What was telling is the photograph that Knox News Sentinel took and published of Henderson refusing to shake Hill’s hand.
