Who Is Going to Make Up the Knoxville City Council in December 2025

Petitions are now available for City of Knoxville Council positions in District 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6. Vice Mayor Tommy Smith in District 1, Andrew Roberto in District 2, Seema Singh in District 3, Lauren Rider in District 4 and Gwen McKenzie in District 6 have all served two consecutive terms are not eligible to run in 2025. In 2025 all votes in the August 26th Primary Early Voting August 6-21, 2025 and the November 4th General Election will be cast in the district. So, only one vote, one selection.

This past Monday March 17 was the first day to get a petition, the return date is May 15 at NOON.

In District 1 South Knox, UT and Ft. Sanders, Knox Planning Commissioner Karyn Adams is the only candidate so far.

In District 2, most of West Knoxville Jeremy Coffey, local businessman and the outgoing Secretary of the Knox County Republican Party.

In District 3, Northwest Knoxville former County Commission and City Council candidate Nick Ciparro, former Councilman and KCSO employee Ivan Harmon and local businessman Doug Lloyd of Lloyd’s Electric. Lloyd also serves on the Knox County Board of Zoning Appeals for District 3.

In District 4, most of North and some of East Knoxville Matthew Debardelaben faces Mortgage Loan Officer and former Mayoral candidate Jeff Talman.

In District 6 East and Downtown Knoxville, former Democrat State Senate candidate in 2020 Sam Brown also of Knoxville Chapter of NAACP, Tibor Gaal, Director of Operations with Organize Tennessee, Leader of Women of Knoxville, Entrepreneur, small business owner and former 2021 Council candidate Deidra Harper and Jordan Walley.
