Knox County Fire Tax?

Today, the Knox County Commission had a presentation of the fire protection infrastructure. From the subscription Rural Metro to the Volunteer Karns Fire Department and the Volunteer Seymour Fire Service that serves South Knox County.

It seems that Karns subscriptions is about 50% of its households. In the presentation, it was discussed about Knox County creating fire tax districts. The presenter said for homes currently subscribing it would cost the same or less, but the tax would be in your property tax. For those NOT subscribing it would cost.

When a Commissioner says I encourage all my colleagues to read and study this and not just put it on a shelf and another Commissioner to say it will take courage but we must address the 50% subscription at Karns. That would appear to be two Commissioners ready, willing and able to impose a fire TAX, it only takes 4 more to jump on board.
