Knox County School Board Re-organizes, Selects two Female Board Members for Chair and Vice Chair

Knox County School Board re-organizes and re-elects Kristi Kristy as Chair and elects newly elected Board Member Betsy Henderson as Vice Chair.

Board Member Horn nominated Board Member Henderson seconded by new Board Member Steve Triplett. New Board Member Katherine Bike nominated Board Member Watson seconded by new Board Member Rev. Dr. John Butler. There was applause from the audience for Watson’s nomination. Both Henderson and Watson indicated they were willing to serve. Roll Call proceeded.

Chair Kristy voting for Henderson broke the tie, electing Henderson as Vice Chair.

Henderson was elected in a special election in November of 2020 to the unexpired term of now Knox County Commission Vice Chair Terry Hill. Henderson on August 4 won the General Election to a full four year term for District Six.

So, District Six has both the Knox County Commission Vice Chair and Knox County School Board Vice Chair. Shall we name it the district of vices?

All the business and re-organization was concluded by 5:24 p.m. a twenty four minute meeting. On Monday they had a work session to ask and work through all the agenda items. Tonight was simply the votes.
