  • As Americans, we are owners of the public school system.
  • As owners, we bear a responsibilty to participate in the system.
  • Accountability for our public school, their safety, and its employees and its funding rests with us and the rest of the system’s owners.
  • Our children’s future depends on the improvement of the public schools.
  • And this improvement depends on our participation.

Does competition(i.e. school vauchers) make things better ? Is there anyway to use school capital for profit ? Maybe we shouldn’t *think* about these things … heresy … maybe we should just do what we always do, and keep raising them taxes until we look like … gasp … Europe.

  2. JoeC. You have a real interest in Europe. Here locally we have the lowest tax rate in the state. Tennessee is the 49th or 50th in taxes. The Capital budget must be increased for a new west knox county high school. The operational budget must be continually monitored and duplication must be eliminated. the school administration and board continues to spend money from the central office to the classroom. The county commission must watch and learn.
