Tea Partiers May Not Like That Lt. Gov. Ramsey

In 2010, the Republican Primary for Governor of TN featured a 3 way race between Bill Haslam, Ron Ramsey and Zach Wamp. State Senator Ramsey had support from tea partiers. As Lt. Governor he has endorsed the Internet Tax Bill.

Read about it here from Chattanooga Times Free Press.

The one bill that passed the U.S. Senate and is now in the U.S. House. Most politicians do not like other politicians telling them what to do. The big question is what will the tea party folks that have supported Ramsey in the past, who oppose the Internet tax bill do now.

I don’t see how this is even an issue in Tennessee. If you buy something from out of state via the internet, you are legally required to submit sales tax voluntarily to the state. If you do not remit sales tax from an internet purchase, you are committing a crime in TN. So the sales tax bill will put all Tennesseans in compliance of a tax already collected and will raise the missing funds for the state.

Blah, blah, blah. How many lame excuses from liberals and greedy politicians must we hear that the Internet sales tax is anything other than a money grab from a new source of revenue and an attempt to stifle competition? That’s all it is.
