Is KPD’s Lack of Body Cameras an Institutional Control Thing?

Monday nights incident between a KPD officer and suspect/citizen has brought to light the lack of body cameras on officers at KPD. They have dash cameras but not body cameras.

Lets face it, the body camera is the eyes and ears of whatever happens. The cameras are for Officer safety and Citizen safety.

In light of the reaction to the recordings from the officer roll call that was exposed in the media recently makes one (like me) wonder if there is an institutional control issue on NOT wanting the public and media to know what is said and done by officers.

Today Chief Eve Thomas has acknowledged she has heard the demand the community demand for body cameras, will consider it, will NOT be available to talk about it
