Democrat Representative Gloria Johnson Wants NO Option for Some Students

The TNVA (Tennessee Virtual Academy) began a couple to three years ago as an option for every student. Maybe stay at home students that have medical issues, maybe students that have gotten into trouble or do not participate well in a classroom environment, maybe a student that is zoned for a failing school.

Due to the infancy stage of TNVA the test scores are not ideal. The scores could be compared to schools in Memphis or maybe even Vine Middle in Knox County and would compare better than the test results of those individual schools.

According to sources of Shock And Awe there are more than 3,000 students enrolled statewide in the TNVA which is a K-8 school. It does not currently enroll high school age students. In a television news report on Thursday 1/31/2013 Democrat State Representative Gloria Johnson said “We’ve seen in school systems in the northeast that have had the same organization for a while, the scores are not improving. There’s no data to prove this will change,” Johnson who is a teacher apparently first wants us to believe that Tennesseans that have a teaching license will perform at the same level as individuals with a teaching license in New Jersey or Massachusetts. She apparently doesn’t have much confidence in her or her colleagues abilities. Additionally it appears that instead of Governor Bill Haslam‘s approach to capping TNVA to 2,500 students that Johnson would like to close up the school. Thus, giving over 3,000 or 2,500 students no option. Not an example of a caring educator. She apparently embraces the cradle to grave, cattle herd mentality for all of public education. Not a progressive in any shape, form or fashion.

Here is the news report from last Thursday on WBIR in Knoxville.
