Knox County District 6 School Board Race Gets a Big Dose of Drama and Minus One Community Role Model

Last night, the website and in today’s print edition of the Big Metal Shed on the Hill is this story about a candidate for Knox County School Board, Sixth District. A couple weeks ago Sandra Rowcliffe picked up a petition to run for School Board. The petition was returned to the Election Commission yesterday. The withdrawal deadline is February 27, 2014, if she desires.

When you read the article there is detail of bodily harm to another person by Rowcliffe. Not rumor, not an allegation but a court vetted detail of bodily injury. When serving as a member of the school board it should be a person worthy of role model status in the community. As reviews of a recent speech to the school board indicates, Rowcliffe advocated corporal punishment. It seems a school board member should be able to pass a background check similar to a school employee. I am not confident that a prospective employee with a court vetted allegation of bodily harm would pass the check to be a school employee.

Other candidates in District Six are Terry Hill, Brad Buchanan, Ronald Hennen and Tamara Shepherd.

I’m surprised she had the nerve to turn it in. According to KNS, nerve and opening cans of whoop butt, seem to be her strong points.

How does one get Judicial Diversion for assault and battery?

Ya gotta be a person with influence I guess.

If she does this to a woman she felt threatened by, what will she do with a citizen who she feels is threatening her position or her power?

A person who gets in screaming matches in public parking lots and who causes bodily harm to another person because she feels threatened is NOT a person I want making decisions for my children in any way shape or form! I also don’t like my BOE person being bankrolled by a political party. I think of all the people in the race so far, Brad Buchanan is the best person for the job. It seems to me his focus is firmly where it should be; and that is on our children’s well being. I’ll vote for him.

It would probably be best for Rowecliff to step out. I don’t think she would make for a good representative of Knox County Schools. Mr. Buchanan and Mrs. Shepherd appear to be the two best people in the race. I have no clue what Mrs. Hill stands for other then maybe updating her FaceBook status.
