Personal Thoughts and Reflections

Last week and this weekend has been tough to watch. I understand the protest, I do NOT understand the vandalism and destruction of public or private property.

As for George Floyd, there is NO defense for the actions that led to his death. The arrest of the Officer is the correct action.

I will never know what it is like to be a person of color. I was fortunate to grow up with parents that never questioned us having friends of color.

Every time I see Eric, he still calls me his little brother as he did from our youth. He and my brother were the same age, I am four years younger.

In the last week, I have spent time thinking what would my life had I been had I been a person of color. You can’t really know until you’ve walked in someone else’s shoes.

My life has been blessed by parents, grandparents and extended family that treat people as people not favoring one more than another and treating everyone as one race, the human race. I only hope that I have passed that on to everyone I have come in contact with.
