Is the Knox County Sheriff Overstepping it’s Jurisdiction?

Today at the Knox County Beer Board there were a number of businesses that appeared because they were caught by the Knox County Sheriff’s Department using a underage cadet to attempt alcohol sales. When the businesses sell to the underage person, the person and business are cited. The business must appear to explain and face a fine or a suspension of the beer license.

The last two businesses Country Burrito Fresh Mex 10636 Hardin Valley Road and Don Gallo Mexican Grill 10681 Hardin Valley Road, the officer said the cadet purchased a frozen margarita. Commissioner Randy Smith asked if it was a margarita with liquor. The officer for Knox County Sheriff was not the arresting officer. He was not sure. He did say that it may have been a to go drink. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They were doing underage alcohol stings as to go orders?

The Beer Board postponed both until the July meeting, until they can determine if it was beer or alcohol, as the Knox County Beer Board lacks authority over liquor, the authority they possess is only on beer and beer sales.
