I first met Lynn when I was 16 years old, my first campaign was for Robin Beard for United States Senate. He was the Republican challenger to Senator James Sasser. I was instructed to go by the Duncan’s home in Holston Hills. Lynn met me in the driveway and gave me plenty of campaign material and I covered East Knox County for Beard. I found a friend in Lynn Duncan.

Fast forward to when I was 21 years old, after my wife and I had married, we visited and joined Eastminister Presbyterian Church. The Duncan’s family church was Eastminister, during our time there, I became a Trustee and an Elder at Eastminister.  In late 1992, we moved to Southwest Knox County and commuted across county for a spell. The Duncan’s had moved to Farragut. But at this point, I was very active in the party and with Congressman Duncan’s election(s).

When Lynn Duncan was unhappy with me I knew it and when she was happy with me, I knew it. You never had to guess where you stood or what Lynn thought. She was an open book.

The service is Wednesday August 4, at 6 pm at Temple Baptist Church located at 1700 W. Beaver Creek Drive, Powell. The graveside is Thursday August 5 at 10 am at the Duncan Family Cemetery at 709 Howard Baker Highway in Huntsville, TN.
