Letter Received …… Those Who Know Bud Best

The following letter was received, it is a response to the Knoxville Bar Association‘s ratings of the current Judges and Judicial candidates running for re-election and election in 2022. The ratings are below. The Republican or Democrat Primaries are May 3, 2022 Early Voting April 13-28. The Knox County General Election is August 4, 2022 Early Voting July 15-30. Armstrong is challenging Chancellor Clarence “Eddie” Pridemore, Jr and Knoxville Attorney Deno Cole

Bud Armstrong has practiced law around Knoxville ever since getting his degree at the Nashville School of Law. He served on the Knox County Commission for 8 years when he had much interaction with peers on the Knoxville Bar, dealing with issues from land use and zoning. Afterwards Bud served as Knox County Law Director where he alienated many elected and public officials. So it should be no surprise  that over 60% of the members of the Knoxville Bar Association did not recommend him for Chancery Court in the Bar Associations recent survey.

In fact 37% strongly do not recommend him for Chancery Court, unlike well known judges like Tim Irwin and John Weaver who received high percentages of “strongly recommend” numbers, Bud received by far the lowest scores of all candidates running for judge when evaluated by those who know him best, his Knoxville Bar Association peers.

To Bud’s credit he did get 4% (1 in 25) peer attorneys to evaluate him highly. One can expect these attorneys were the ones who received the multitude of Knox County taxpayer dollars Bud spent on outside counsel when he was the County’s Law Director. Hopefully voters will listen to those who know Bud best and send him into retirement on election day this May 3, Early Voting April 13-28.
