City of Knoxville (Councilwoman Parker) Wants to Weigh In on an International Matter

Update November 24, 2023 8 AM, i am told that at Large Seat C Councilwoman Amelia Parker has authored and placed the Resolution on the agenda, NOT the administration or any other Councilperson.

Tuesday November 28, 2023 the City of Knoxville City Council has Resolution L to consider, debate and vote on. The header reads “ceasefire in Palestine”. Read the Resolution here.

The cover sheet says it affects all Council districts. I am sure there are individuals of both faiths that are in the conflict in Knoxville. However, I fail to see how a Resolution from Knoxville, TN will bring all sides together.

Knoxville has serious problems with rising rent costs that are kicking people out of their long held leases. Knoxville has an already high homeless population. Knoxville has a missing middle home supply problem. Knoxville has internal problems at KPD, a longtime officer receiving photographs of young children for the purpose of creating child pornography.

Here’s a novel idea, before solving the worlds problems, let the city demonstrate how it fixed one or more before launching into world peace.
