Prayers for Coach Bill McCartney & Family…..Promise Keepers Will be his Legacy

HEALTH STATEMENT on Coach Bill McCartney / Promise Keepers Founder & Chairman Emeritus

The following statement has been issued by Coach Mac’s family:“We would like to share the news that our father, Coach Bill McCartney has been diagnosed with late-onset Dementia/Alzheimer’s. We (his family) have been noticing memory issues for the past few years and he was recently diagnosed. He is receiving treatment and we are hoping this slows the progression of the disease. He is still the same Coach Mac – biking, golfing, supporting the Buffs and being an active member of his Church.

“We are making this public to ask for your understanding and patience as we know he frequently runs into fans, friends and former players. This is a frustrating and confusing disease, and if he appears disconnected or unknowing, please don’t take it personally.

“Please keep Coach Mac in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate through this difficult time.”

— The McCartney Family
Coach Mac continues to speak into the ministry of Promise Keepers through regular early morning calls to its President, Dr. Raleigh Washington. Coach Mac Mac remains committed to his goal and legacy in challenging men every Promise Keeper to commit to reading the Bible daily and to be led by the Spirit. He also speaks into the development of monthly newsletters and updates to the PK Constituency. His recall of memorized scripture remains strong as he uses that recall weekly in relating a football situation of the past to scripture in his weekly delivery of a “Word for the Day” each Sunday.

On behalf of Chairman Don DeLuzio (a former CU Buff’s football player under Coach Mac), the Promise Keepers Board of Directors and the entire PK Staff, we invite you to join us as we pray for Coach Mac and his family.

Standing with him as a loyal friend and mentee,

RaleighRaleigh B. Washington, DD, M.Div.
