Politics at Play @ the Knox County Commission

Knox County is 13 months away from the next election and politics is playing a BIG role in the actions of the members of County Commission. In the 2010 election there will only be one Commissioner in each of the nine districts and two at large county wide Commissioners.

Last night, in the vote to censure Commissioner Lambert you could see politics at play. First, in the Seventh district R. Larry Smith voted NO. As Michele Carringer was to vote she delayed and then passed. As all Commissioners voted and there were 11 votes to censure, Carringer voted YES making the vote 12 to censure. In next years election, Carringer can say show that she and Smith are separate on several issues.

In the Ninth district, Mike Brown voted to censure primarily it is believed because Victoria DeFreese was an eyewitness in Lambert’s defense. You could see Brown’s body language change when his replacement first appeared on the screen.
