Jonah Goldberg: The Future and Past of Conservatism

Two terms define today’s political landscape—conservative and liberal. As ubiquitous as the terms are, in many ways, they’ve lost complex meaning in the public mindset. National Review Senior Editor Jonah Goldberg examines the implication of those words on a daily basis.

On Tuesday, Marth 6th at 7PM in Strong Hall Auditorium 101, Goldberg will bring his perspective to the University of Tennessee in a speech titled “The Future and Past of Conservatism.” In this lecture, Goldberg will speak about the evolution of the conservative movement, the changes it endured during the Bush years, and the effects of the Trump presidency on the ideology. He will seek to predict what the future of conservatism will look like and answer whether or not conservatism’s failure means liberalism’s success. A short Q and A session will follow the lecture.
Jonah Goldberg is a prominent political analyst and bestselling author of two New York Times best-selling books, including Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left from Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning. In addition to his editorial role at the National Review, he is a nationally syndicated political columnist and Fox News Contributor. The Atlantic Magazine has named him one of the Top 50 political commentators in the country.
This event is designated as a Becker Seminar through the Chancellors Honors Program. It is being cohosted by the Young Americans for Freedom.
