Is The Appearance Appropriate?

Earlier this week, I tweeted out a question about Cameron Brooks social media presence openly supporting Eddie Mannis for Mayor.

Brooks is one of five of the Knox County Election Commission Members. One of the Two Democrats, appointed by State Rep. Gloria Johnson and Rick Staples.

Granted the job is not a full time gig, but I am told it pays a monthly stipend and comes with County Insurance. His other job is that of Realtor.

Now, the question is not whether he can vote for the candidate of his choice. He can. The question is not whether he is forbidden his first amendment right to say who he thinks is best. He can.

The question comes when the Election Commission Members must rule on any contest or advantage/disadvantageous for a candidate(s) for Mayor. What information may a Commissioner have that could be advantageous to a/the candidate of their choice?

Has Brooks been engaged in any strategic meetings with the Mannis campaign? These are questions that come to mind.
