Those Pesky Campaign Financial Disclosures

As long time readers of #TheMegaBullhornofTruth know, I have always reported campaign financial disclosures during elections. However, if a campaign does not close out the campaign accounts in the filings with the Knox County Election Commission, quarterly reports are still required. If the reports are not filed then penalties will be assessed.

Late last week, letters were sent from the Knox County Elections Administrator by regular and certified mail to 5 candidates that have NOT filed recent disclosures, they have 5 days from receipt of the letter to file the necessary disclosures. After 5 days, they are assessed $25 fine per day until they file the report and the enforcement moves to Nashville to a citizen panel that will rule on the penalties.

The 5 candidates are Tina Marshall, 2020 failed Republican candidate for Knox County Property Assessor. Calvin Skinner, former candidate for Knoxville Mayor. Keith Britt former prospective candidate for Knox County Commission, Fourth District, David Hayes former Knoxville city Council at large candidate and John Ashley, Former 2016 candidate for Knox County Commission Sixth District.

I will keep you posted.
