Breaking News: Knox County Clerk is OPEN for the People, BY the People and OF the People

Knox County Clerk Sherry Witt will open the drive-thru services at the Knox County Courthouse and the the East location today Friday, May 1st, for February, March and April vehicle registration renewals and for Disables Driver Placard renewals only. This effort is intended to give Knox County Residents, who were unable to renew their vehicle registration during the shutdown period, a convenient option to do so.

Knox County Courthhouse located at 300 Main St. in Knoxville, TN 37902 from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

East Location located at 3010 South Mall Road in Knoxville, TN 37917 from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm

The Courthouse Clerk’s Office and the Cedar Bluff, Halls and East satellite offices will open, with controlled access, on Monday May 4th. Applications for Title & Registrations, Registration Renewals, Marriage Licenses, Notary Oaths & Bonds, Business License Applications and Driver License Application, including applications for Real ID/Gold Star Driver License, will be processes for Knox County Residents following the recommended guidelines to spread of COVID-19.

Contagion barriers have been ordered and will be installed in the four offices; Knox County Residents are encouraged to wear masks and gloves while in the service area; Applicants will enter the service area, one-at-a-time, only when a deputy is available and only when a safe distance is allowed between applicants. Entrances to the office will be clearly marked so social distancing is adhered to. Public Building Authority Personnel will be on hand to direct traffic and control access, per state and local guidelines.

The County Clerk encourages the renewal of registrations by mail, by phone, or online, where feasible.

Governor Bill Lee extended the expiration date of March and April 2020, vehicle registrations to June 15, 2020 and delayed the expiration of most Tennessee Driver License classifications and IDs, set to expire between March 12 and May 18, 2020, for an additional six months from their original expiration date, by Executive Order No. 15.
