Insurors of Tennessee Announces Representative Ron Travis as New CEO

Nashville, Tenn., November 5, 2020 – Insurors of Tennessee is excited to announce that Representative Ron Travis has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer for the organization, effective November 16, 2020. Travis (R-Dayton) is a State Representative for District 31 (Bledsoe, Rhea, Sequatchie and part of Roane Counties) and has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry. Travis is a Dayton native and attended Tennessee Tech University. He was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2012 and has served on multiple Committees – including Chairman of Insurance and Banking Committee and the Fiscal Review Committee. He was the Tennessee Development District Association’s “Legislator of the Year” in 2014 and 2017 and the Tennessee Chamber’s “Champion of Commerce” Award winner in 2014.
Travis previously owned six locations of Nationwide Insurance agencies in East Tennessee and is a former Nationwide Insurance President’s and Champion’s conference qualifier in multiple years. He was involved in multiple mergers and acquisitions in the industry and brings significant sales, operations and agency management experience to his new role.
He has homes in Dayton and Cookeville with his wife, Laura. Together they have 2 daughters – Rachel Travis and Jessica Shannon. They also have 4 grandchildren – Alley Jo Shannon, Becham Colby Shannon, Finley Scout Shannon and Hadley Jane Travis.
“We are very excited to have someone of this caliber in this role for Insurors,” states Bob McIntire, Insurors President and principal agent of McIntire & Associates Insurance and Real Estate in Cleveland, TN. “I think this brings us a dimension of recognition that our members will benefit from for years to come. In addition to his industry and legislative knowledge, I feel Ron will give us a real ‘voice’ for independent agents in Tennessee.”
“It’s a great honor to be joining Insurors of Tennessee,” adds Travis, “I am grateful for the opportunity to work for such a strong organization, alongside Tennessee’s finest agents, brokers and industry professionals. I am optimistic about the future of our Association and look forward to the days ahead.”
