Tomorrow’s (April 25, 2022) Knox County Commission Meeting

Tomorrow, the Knox County Commission will be voting on a bunch of items. A few that I find interesting are; In preparation, you can watch Monday April 18, 2022 Work Session here

This one is a contract for Knox County Parks and Recreation to continue using Bower Field for 10 years with 2 – 10 year renewals for the dollar amount of Thunder Mountain, LLC‘s property taxes. Read the verbiage below. There is a Thunder Mountain rezoning which was scheduled for April 25 after a 60 day deferral (which is now being asked to be deferred until May 23) and plan for Thunder Mountain of a massive rezoning which is a whole ‘nother screwing (my humble opinion, feel free to make it your own) for South Knox County. Course there is an election and all on May 3rd, so let’s kick this rezoning and plan down the road a bit more……

Consideration of a Resolution of the Commission of Knox County, Tennessee, approving a Lease Agreement between Thunder Mountain Properties, LLC (owners of Bower Field) and Knox County to allow Knox County Parks and Recreation to continue to use Bower Field for athletic and recreational programs, youth sports activities, and related concessions and, in exchange for the use of Bower Field, Knox County will pay an amount equal to the yearly Knox County property taxes on the undeveloped property adjacent to Bower Field and owned by Thunder Mountain Properties LLC, and certain insurance premiums regarding Bower Field (totaling approximately $5,700.00 in 2021) for a term of ten (10) years with two (2) ten (10) year renewal options.

Here appoint a member and an Alternate Member to the Knox County Merit System Council for Sheriff’s Employees. There were 7 applicants interviewed last Monday at the Commission Work Session, here are the Resume’s, here is my previous story so you can put a face with the names of the applicants.

Here is an Ordinance item to be added at the request of Commissioner’s Busler and Beeler to revert the Knox County Merit System Council for Sheriff’s employees back to the 1974 version. An issue that was discussed by Commission at Commission last November 2021. Commission then asked for an opinion from the TN Attorney General. Knox County Law Director David Buuck then pulled the item making the request for an opinion, moot. In late January 2022, Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler through his outside legal counsel filed suit in Knox County Chancery Court, Knox County Law Director David Buuck and his office joined in the case.
